Hi everyone, I'm making this post to address an issue that has plagued this community for over a year. This issue has caused unrest amongst the player base in mass; to the point of making some people lose hope, or quit the community. This issue has had profound effects on things from RP, to general rules not being enforced. The issue is the mentality that staff have obtained over years of playing on the server. The mentality that staff think they shouldn't get on the server, because there's nothing to do; that there's no reason to try to get on to better the community because no one else is. This mentality hamstrings the community, not just for the veterans of the community, but the new people who come to play on the server.
There are so many issues that this mind set contributes to, a few I have already listed. It has killed off so much potential for this server, for this community to prosper, to flourish. It has allowed for toxicity and hatred to fester and normalize said behavior. Staff Members are supposed to be the pillars of the community, to support, and guide us to having a better time on the server; to the many of you who apply or who are members of staff, may not know this to be, but it's the truth. I understand that it's hard sometimes to get on the server. That you don't want to deal with the toxicity, but you're the first step to making the server a better place for all of us. Whether you want to believe it or not you have a large influence on all of us, especially our mentality.
There has been a lot of infighting amongst the staff, a lot of feelings that have been hurt. I understand how hard it can be to forgive people for the shit they've said, but if you cannot overcome these issues that you have amongst one another we cannot move forward. This normalization of low standards amongst the staff team has allowed for the rest of the community to feel disheartened, and make the future look bleak. Without an example to follow we are all lost to our worst impulses. It hurts to see the current state of our staff team, but this doesn't have to be representative of our future. The path to revive our community will not be easy, and it will take time, but please don't just give up on us.
