tl;dr I want to prioritize myself and my own personal happiness over my activity on the server, but I don't want to give up, as I want to help the server continue to thrive.
Hey everyone, I thought I'd just make a quick post to explain what I think I'm going to do regarding the server and my activity. It's been pretty obvious as of late, but I haven't been on the server as much as I have before, which is because of vacation and just a few relaxing days. But I've decided on a course of action that will focus on making my own IRL things higher priority than the server. Therefore, as of now, to ME personally, I will not particularly care about my activity on the server.
Don't get me wrong, I really do enjoy the server and all it has to offer. But there are times where it becomes more of a chore to be on the server, especially in my limited time that I have to enjoy leisure activities, like playing other games. Now with my senior year starting, I have classes to worry about, college applications to worry about, and I sure as hell don't want to worry about not getting demoted because of activity. I'd rather free up my palate and enjoy things I really want to do. This is supposed to be one of the most enjoyable times of my life, and I want to enjoy it to the fullest. I also feel that if I don't want to play on the server during a time where I am really stressed out but am forced to get on due to activity requirements, then that might reflect in my interactions that day, and it probably won't go well for players of the server.
However, this doesn't mean I'm stepping down (ideally). I still want to play on the server and help others where I can. There will be times where I'm open. I'm always in teamspeak ready and able to answer any questions that I can. I enjoy contributing to staff meetings, as balanced perspectives can offer many more benefits to the addition or removal of certain ideas. This part is up to the superadmins and above to decide. I want to help, but I truly cannot force myself to get on the server and help when I really don't want to. If they don't remove me, then I will likely return once I have at least finished college applications and first semester of school (probably). If they do remove me, then that is completely justifiable, as my hours will be well below the limit (also probably).
I love this server, and I want it to succeed for as long as possible.
But I also want myself to succeed for as long as possible.
